Hyung Chon Ji

Literally means heaven (Chon) and earth (Ji). It is in the orient
interpreted as the creation of the world or the beginning of human history,
therefore it is the initial pattern practiced by the beginner.

This pattern consists of two similar parts; one to represent the
Heaven and the other the Earth. The lake Chon-ji is said to have been the first
residence of Tan-Gun.
As was interpreted in the first book of the Chinese classic the "I Ching", which
explains all processes of growth and change in the natural world. Chon-Ji
symbolizes the creation of the universe.
According to the ancient philosophers, the universe came into being through the
interaction of two opposing elements/forces which when combined formed formed
the basic elements of matter in the universe.
